Trading Pin FAQs
The most common questions about trading pins.
Most orders will be completed within 2-3 weeks of being placed. There are some exceptions for large orders and those that require special features. There is also a busy season from April through July for soft enamel pins, this can add up to 10 days more production time. If your order will take longer than our normal production times, we will inform you when providing a quote.
You can check out our handy pricing chart to get a proper estimate. Pricing varies based on size, quantity, and any add-on features you choose. For a price on your potential order, please fill out our quote form and we’ll get back to you within one business day.
Soft enamel are our most popular trading pins. They take a solid metal base and through the process of electroplating, add a outer layer of metal to the pin. This creates the raised metal texture (or ridges). The recessed areas are then partially filled with paint.
These pins allow for both simple and more detailed designs. They have the look and feel of a piece of jewelry and are the most popular trading pin at sporting events.
Offset printed pins use a smooth metal base and then adhere a design to it. They are finished off with an epoxy coating for protection.
These pins are lower in cost and do not provide the texture you would find from a soft enamel pin. However, they can be useful for complex designs that have tiny details that need to show up (player names for instance).
If you have any trouble deciding, please don’t hesitate to contact us and ask for more information.
For a single tournament or event, we recommend a minimum of 30 pins per team member. This should allow them to trade freely with others and have a couple leftover as a keepsake.
However, if your team travels to multiple tournaments a year, we recommend ordering a larger batch per player. This will save you money per pin and ensure you don’t have to make a last minute order if you run out.
This is entirely dependent on your design and personal preference. Most pins measure around 1.25″ and 1.75″ (we take the longest side to determine size). But for more complex designs where there are tiny details, we can go up to 2″ and beyond.
The good news is that you don’t need to know the exact size to order. Our experienced design team can help determine which size will get you the best price without losing details from your design. If we see something that won’t work at a particular size, we will let you know.
A well-designed, high-quality pin will always be a hit at tournaments. But there are a few ways you can really makes yours stand out from the other teams.
We offer a number of add-ons for your soft enamel trading pins. They include blinkers, sliders, glitter, and danglers. These premium options can really make your team’s pin the most sought after one at your next competition.
You can also add in some variety into your team’s pin order. Create a handful of pins that utilize a different plating (gold for instance) that will be highly sought after by other individuals. We can also number your pins on the back to acknowledge their scarcity while trading.
Our soft enamel trading pins begin with a metal base made of steel and/or iron. A custom die is cast in the shape of your design. Finally, your pin is plated with either nickel, brass, copper, or one of our custom paint options.
After completion, the pins are hand-painted to fill in the recessed areas. The pin is then baked to allow for quick drying and a hard finish. A final polish is then done to make your pins shine.
Our pins are typically imported from overseas. While we would love to manufacture in the United States, the costs simply prohibit it.
Beyond manufacturing, our entire company is based in the United States. This includes our customer service and art teams.
Unfortunately at this time we don’t offer an option made in the United States.
Our graphic design team has a ton of experience working with all types of artwork. Perhaps it’s a logo you found online or a sketch you drew on paper. We can take most anything and turn it into a great pin.
If your team does not have a logo, we recommend sites like 99Designs which links individuals up with artists.
